Quote: “Many sports can use both mental and physical elements, but only Chessboxing uses both mental and physical endurance”
Nolan Hendrickson, from southern Wisconsin, started chess late in life at the age of 13. After almost giving up chess to pursue the sciences, he ended up getting his National Master title just 4 years later at the age of 17. Chess eventually led him to get a Chess Scholarship at Lindenwood University, in St. Charles, Missouri. There he is in pursuit of a degree in Psychology and his International Master Chess Title. What started out as a good excuse to getting in shape, chess boxing turned into a core part of Nolan’s weekly life. He believes that it is important for a good chess player to have strong physical endurance in order to perform well at the chess board.
